How to make it

  • Combine the strawberries, sugar and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour.
  • Prepare the sweet cream base.
  • Whisk eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy 1-2 minutes.
  • Whisk in sugar a little at a time.
  • Continue whisking until completely blended about 1 minute more.
  • Pour in the cream and milk.
  • Whisk to blend.
  • Mash the strawberries to a puree and stir into the cream base.
  • Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker.
  • Freeze following the ice cream makers instructions.
  • This recipe makes a generous 1 quart.
  • If necessary adapt the recipe to your machine.
  • I cut the recipe in half for my ice cream machine.

    Debra, that sounds like some fantastic ice cream - and the fresh strawberries are so good right now, the perfect time to try this. I keep saying I am going to buy an ice cream maker because of all the delicious ice cream recipes I've found on this site. Your recipe is irresistable - time to go buy that darn machine!
