How to make it

  • Beat eggs with sugar until light; add milk and cook shortening. Add
  • sifted dry ingredients and coconut; stir just until blended. Chill
  • several hours.
  • Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/2-inch thick. Cut out
  • doughnuts with doughnut cutter. Fry in deep hot fat (375 degrees F)
  • until brown; turn and brown other side (about 1 minute per side).
  • Drain on paper towel. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

    Yummm! :) My Mom used to make us girls baked applesauce doughnuts....it was a real treat! I'll have to try making these....I've never made doughnuts before, wish me luck! :)

    henrie, you know how I love my sweets! I've never tried to make my own donuts, but this just sounds too good to pass up...brings me back to my childhood and my great-grandma frying donuts on a Saturday morning as us kids waited anxiously for the warm treats - good stuff!!
