Apples - Honey Baked Recipe
This fruity dish makes any apple a delicious dessert. It is easy to make and uses ingredients readily on hand. Dairy, egg and gluten free.

Ingredients
  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples, with skin
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons raisins
  • 3 tablespoons of sultanas
  • 4 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • juice of 1/2 orange

Directions
  1. 1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. 2. Remove cores from apples.
  3. 3. Finely chop 2 tablespoons of walnuts and combine with raisins, sultanas and sugar. Stuff mixture into cavities of apples.
  4. 4. Arrange apples on a lightly greased ovenproof dish and bake until tender, 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. 5. Combine honey, walnuts and orange juice in a small saucepan and heat gently for 5 minutes. Remove pan from stove .
  6. 6. Spoon sauce over apples and serve.

Yummy. This sounds fabulous.


We used to make baked apples all the time at home and after I moved out that's what I most often made for dessert because I always had apples on hand! But I always made the old recipe with brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves down the middle of the apple and butter on top. But this sounds very different and very good. I'm going to try these -- maybe they will become my new baked apples!
