Apple Onion Pie Recipe
APPLE ONION PIE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Whitcomb Estate in Richardson Texas in 1994.

Ingredients
  • 3 sweet delicious apples peeled cored and sliced
  • 2 Vidalia onions peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Peel core and slice apples into 1/4" slices.
  2. Peel and thinly slice onions then layer onion slices in buttered pie plate.
  3. Put a layer of apples on onion slices then another layer of onions ending with apples.
  4. Pour one cup of bouillon over the layers then sprinkle cracker crumbs on top.
  5. Drizzle melted butter over crumbs then bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

Hey Chefmeow, reminds me of one I used to make for holidays; an onion and apple layered combo with a sugary mix that baked for hours. It was melt-in-your-mouth delish. By the way, I used to live in Plano, TX, right outside of Richardson. Picked up some darn good recipes out there. Thanks for the post.
