Iron Bars

- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened shopping list
- 1 cup raisins, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup other dried fruit(ie apricot, plums, dates, etc), chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup honey(or molasses, even better) shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour shopping list
- 1/4 cup dry milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup wheat germ shopping list
- 11/2t baking powder shopping list
- 1/2t baking soda shopping list
- 1 cup chopped nuts(almonds, pecans, walnuts, etc) shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk(soy is fine) shopping list
- 1 cup quick cooking oats shopping list
- 1/2t salt shopping list
- 1/2t ginger shopping list
- 1/2t cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2t nutmeg shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter, sugar and honey.
- Combine flour, dry milk, wheat germ, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.
- Add to creamed mixture slowly and alternately with milk.
- Mix until well combined.
- Stir in oats, fruits and nuts.
- Spread into 9X13 baking dish sprayed with no stick spray and bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.
- Cool in pan and cut into bars.
