Baked Apple Donuts

A no-fry southern sugar-crusted apple donut, from my then friend Patsy.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup sifted flour shopping list
- 1 3/4 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 nutmet shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/3 cup shortening shopping list
- 1/2 cup melted butter - for rolling shopping list
- 1/3 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 egg beaten shopping list
- 1/4 cup milk shopping list
- 1 cup grated apple shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and sugar.
- Cut in shortening.
- Mix egg, milk and apple, add all at once to the dry ingredients and mix quickly but thoroughly.
- Fill greased pans (muffin tins) 2/3 full.
- Bake 350 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes.
- Remove and roll in melted butter and the sugar & cinnamon.
- Best served warm.
