How to make it

  • Heat oven to 350. Grease jelly roll pan 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1. Mix brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, egg and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Spread dough in pan. Bake 18-20 minutes.
  • Topping: Cook and stir brown sugar and corn syrup over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir in butter and cream. Heat to boiling; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and almonds. Pour over crust, spreading evenly. Bake 15-20 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into squares and then diagonally into triangles.
  • NOTE: If you drizzle this with melted chocolate chips after it comes out of the oven, it will be a giant Heath bar. And you know I do!

I think this chubby girl is going to love these. I love imported swiss chocolate, but I think these would be best naked(no chocolate, yes I know I'm in the minority). It's all about the toffee. Thank you for the recipe, and the 5 extra pounds. L.
