Homemade Soft Pretzels

- 1 batch pizza dough (see my recipes- use basic or whole grain) shopping list
- 10 cups water shopping list
- 2/3 cup baking soda shopping list
- kosher salt shopping list
- 1 egg yolk shopping list
- 1T water shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 450 F.
- Divide dough into 8 portions
- Roll each piece of dough into (about) 18 inch lengths and fold into pretzel shape, pressing lightly to join.
- Bring water and soda to a boil.
- Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly grease.
- Drop pretzels in water one at a time for 30 seconds.
- Remove to baking sheet, brush with yolk and water mixture, sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 10 -15 minutes, or until golden brown and shiny.
- Let cool on a rack for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
- **Flavour boost: Add to dough: 2 T fresh finely chopped rosemary, 3 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan. Top pretzels with salt & garlic powder.
