How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 450 F.
  • Divide dough into 8 portions
  • Roll each piece of dough into (about) 18 inch lengths and fold into pretzel shape, pressing lightly to join.
  • Bring water and soda to a boil.
  • Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly grease.
  • Drop pretzels in water one at a time for 30 seconds.
  • Remove to baking sheet, brush with yolk and water mixture, sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 10 -15 minutes, or until golden brown and shiny.
  • Let cool on a rack for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
  • **Flavour boost: Add to dough: 2 T fresh finely chopped rosemary, 3 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan. Top pretzels with salt & garlic powder.
