How to make it

  • Put veggies in pot and fill with water. Add salt and pepper (Crazy Salt) and cook until potatoes are mealy. Then crumble meat into pot. Cook another hour.
  • In small skillet, brown the butter and flour until well browned and then add to the soup and stir well. (This is what gives it that really good flavor.)
  • Ladle into bowls and top each with homemade, buttered croutons. If you want to make this pretty - to be honest, it needs help visually - sprinkle a little minced parsley or chives over top of each serving.

    That sure sounds delicious! My grandmother made one similar to this and we loved it. She would use whatever meat we had leftover from Sunday dinner and make it on Monday.
