Ingredients
  • 4 pound beef brisket
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Directions
  1. Place meat in roasting pan and brown uncovered in oven.
  2. Season meat with pepper.
  3. Dissolve onion soup mix in water.
  4. Mix ketchup and beer together then add soup mixture and pour over meat.
  5. Cover pan with foil and roast 2 hours.
  6. Add flour to 1/4 cup pan drippings to make a paste then stir paste into gravy in pan.
  7. Return pan to oven and continue roasting an additional 30 minutes.
  8. Slice meat across grain and serve with gravy.
