godfather spaghetti sauce

very delicious sauce from francis ford coppolla's "the godfather" movie. and the smell while cooking is going to drive you wild.
Ingredients
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil shopping list
- 1 large onion diced shopping list
- 1/2 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 1 28 oz can diced tomato's shopping list
- 1 14 oz can stewed tomato's (seasoned is good) shopping list
- 1 lb italian sausage sliced into 3/4"-1" pieces (i use hot) shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- handful of dried basil (or fresh if u prefer) shopping list
- 1 cup dry red wine shopping list
How to make it
- heat oil in large sauce pan. add onion and garlic and saute till translucent. add wine. add tomato's. add salt and sugar. rub basil with hands and add to sauce. simmer on medium till slight boil. add sausage and turn heat low. stir occasionally until thickened. taste during cooking and add more basil if required. serve with spaghetti or spaghettini. garlic bread is a nice touch with this.
