California Walnut Pie Recipe
This is my mom's adaption of southern pecan pie. Because we had 2 walnut trees in our yard, she made walnut pie, instead. Now, we all prefer it to pecan pie!

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs; beaten
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teasp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter; melted
  • 1/2 teasp. salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • pastry for a single-crust, 9-inch pie

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine eggs, sugar, corn syrup,vanilla, butter & salt & mix well. Stir in walnuts. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 40 to 45 minutes; or until skewer or knife inserted into center of pie comes out clean. ( If pie is browning too quickly, turn heat down to 300 degrees F. for last few minutes of baking).
  2. Serve with whipped cream.

I am from Texas.. where Pecans are king.. and I like the walnut better also! Walnuts have more crunch... Great recipe... I need to check to see if yours is like mine..
