How to make it

  • In Dutch oven over medium heat, stir together sausage, onion, celery, peppers, and garlic.
  • Cook 10 to 12 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently.
  • Add remaining ingredients except shrimp and hot pepper sauce. Bring to a boil.
  • Cover; reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Cook 20 to 25 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp.
  • Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until shrimp turns bright pink.
  • Remove bay leaves.
  • Serve with hot pepper sauce. * 12 ounces frozen, cooked shrimp may be substituted for 1 pound fresh or frozen shrimp.
