Old Kentucky Nut Cake Recipe
This came from one of the cookbooks that I have. On the cook time I always put the first number in so you can check before it get over cooked.

Ingredients
  • 2/3 c. butter
  • 1 2/3 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 2/3 c. sifted flour
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c. walnuts, cut up
  • =====================================================
  • Creamy Caramel Icing:
  • 1/3 c. cream
  • 6 T. butter
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 3 c. sifted powdered sugar

Directions
  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs.
  3. Sift dry ingredients.
  4. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with vanilla and milk.
  5. Fold in walnuts.
  6. Pour into two greased 9-inch layer pans.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes.
  8. =====================================================
  9. Creamy Caramel Icing:
  10. Heat cream and butter.
  11. Carmelize sugar.
  12. Add creamed butter stirring until lumps are dissolved.
  13. Gradually stir in powdered sugar.
  14. Add more cream if icing gets too thick.
  15. Ice cooled cake.
