Mamas Country Beef Stew

- Mama's Country beef Stew shopping list

- 2 to 2 1/2 pounds of lean beef stew meat shopping list
- 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings or shortening shopping list
- 2 large onions, diced shopping list
- 5 large potatoes, cut into eighths shopping list
- 4 or 5 large carrots, cut into 2 inch slices shopping list
- 1 -15 oz. can white, kidney, red, or pinto beans shopping list
- salt and black pepper to taste shopping list
- garlic powder shopping list
- 2/3 cup dry red wine or water(if unavailable) shopping list
- 1 – 10 3/4 ounce can of condensed tomato soup, undiluted shopping list
- 1 cup of diced celery (optional) shopping list
- 1 soup can of water shopping list

How to make it
- ===================================================
- Brown the stew meat in the bacon drippings or shortening.
- Add the onions and cook until browned. Add the other vegetables and the seasonings and wine. Add the soup and water.
- Simmer for about 3 hours or until the meat and the vegetables are tender
- Add more water as needed during cooking.
- Do NOT allow to scorch.

- Delicious with crusty bread or corn bread and salad or fruit.

Very Nice...my own recipe is very much the same...so I can give you a 5...I love my recipe...but never thought of using bacon grease to brown the meat...that will add a nice flavor to the stew...thanks for the great idea!!
