- 2 tsp. olive oil shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped red onion shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper shopping list
- 1 lb. bulk pork sausage (you can used either hot or sweet) shopping list
- 4 (16 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes shopping list
- 1 tsp. garlic powder shopping list
- 1 Tbsp.italian seasoning shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- pinch red pepper flakes shopping list
- 1 tsp. sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. pepper shopping list
- 1 lb. pkg. mostaccioli pasta shopping list
- 1/2 cup shredded Italian cheese blend shopping list
How to make it
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the onion and the red pepper, and cook until they are limp about about 5 miinutes. Add the pork sausage, cook and stir until the sausage is crumbly and browned, about 10 minutes. Drain and discard any excess fat, then stir in the tomatoes, the seasonings and the sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 20-30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to boil over high heat. Add the pasta, and cook until al dente, about 10-12 minutes. Drain the pasta, then toss with the red sauce and the Italian cheese blend. Stir until the cheese has melted. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
