White Texas Sheet Cake Recipe
This is an incredible cake. It is moist, goes a long way and is always a hit when I take it to church or office potlucks. Enjoy

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4-1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Directions
  1. In a large saucepan bring and water to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, 1 teaspoon almond extract and baking soda until smooth.
  3. Pour batter into a greased jelly roll pan.
  4. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.
  5. Cool for 20 minutes.
  6. Combine 1/2 cup butter and milk in a saucepan then bring to a boil.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Mix in sugar and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
  9. Stir in pecans and spread frosting over warm cake.

I love traditional Texas sheet cake and I can't wait to try this!!! It sounds yummy. I like almond flavoring, too.


I have now made this cake a couple of times and it is sooo GOOD, will be making it forever. My husband dosen't care for frosting and this cake is just yummy without any, super moist and just sweet enough. The only thing I did different was bake it in a regular cake pan instead of a jelly role pan.
