Fresh Cherry Cake

- 1 lb tart fresh cherries pitted shopping list
- 3/4 cup plus 2 Tbs sugar shopping list
- 2 Tbs water shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powdwer shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 stick butter softened shopping list
- 3 large eggs separated shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 1/4 tsp cream of tarter shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Butter a 9 inch, 2 inch tall springform pan or similar pan.
- Combime cheeries, 1 Tbs sugar and water and heat and cook over medium heat about 10 minutes or until tender.
- Remove from heat to cool.
- Combine dry ingredients and beat in 3/4 cup sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
- Add yolks one at a time and add vanilla.
- Beat whitesa stiff with cream of tarter.
- Gently fold into batter.
- Pour batter in pan and top with half the cherry mixture and half of their juice.
- Reserve remainders to serve with cake
- Sprinkle top of cherries with remaining 1 Tbs sugar.
- Bake golden and done, about 50 minutes.
- Remove from oven and run a small knife around edges of pan.
- Cool ob rack before loosening.
- Served with the reserved cherriesand their juice

Sounds heavenly! I love cherries but never have made a cherry cake so I'm eager to try this.
