How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cake:
  • Cream butter.
  • Add sugar gradually and cream till fluffy.
  • Add sifted dry ingerdients alternately with milk.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Fold in beaten egg whites.
  • Divide evenly into 2 or 3 cake pans.
  • Bake for 15 to 25 minutes until golden brown and tests done.
  • Filling:
  • In double boiler or on low heat cook egg yolks, sugar and butter, stirring constantly, until thick.
  • Add raisins, pecans, coconut, vanilla, and wine, cooking about 1 - 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.
  • Spread on top of each cake layer.
  • Can double filling and spread on the sides too.
Filling on layer tops.   Close
