- Cake: shopping list
- 1 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 3 cups plain flour, sifted shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 7 egg whites, beaten stiff shopping list
- Filling: shopping list
- 7 egg yolks, beaten well shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1 cup chopped pecans shopping list
- 1 cup coconut shopping list
- 3/4 - 1 box seedless raisins shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 cup wine shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cake:
- Cream butter.
- Add sugar gradually and cream till fluffy.
- Add sifted dry ingerdients alternately with milk.
- Add vanilla.
- Fold in beaten egg whites.
- Divide evenly into 2 or 3 cake pans.
- Bake for 15 to 25 minutes until golden brown and tests done.
- Filling:
- In double boiler or on low heat cook egg yolks, sugar and butter, stirring constantly, until thick.
- Add raisins, pecans, coconut, vanilla, and wine, cooking about 1 - 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.
- Spread on top of each cake layer.
- Can double filling and spread on the sides too.
