Brunch Braid

- Make the pizza dough: shopping list
- 1 pkg bakers yeast shopping list
- 1 ½ cups warm water shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- combine all three ingredients shopping list
- set aside: shopping list
- two cups white flour shopping list
- ½ cup whole wheat flour shopping list
- ½ tsp salt shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- ¼ cup canola or olive oil shopping list
- prepare the other ingredients while the yeast bubbles shopping list
- ½ cup cranberry sauce shopping list
- ½ tsp dried oregano shopping list
- 1 cup cooked mashed potatoes shopping list
- 1 ½ cups cooked turkey, chopped shopping list
- 1 ½ cups bread stuffing shopping list
- 3/4 cup shredded provolone cheese shopping list
- 2 tbsp chopped Italian parsley shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- When yeast is ready, add it to the flour mixture
- Add the oil, salt and egg
- Combine thoroughly
- Turn dough out onto the working surface
- Knead 5 minutes
- Let dough rest 5 minutes
- Roll the dough out into an oblong or rectangular shape
- Place this dough onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- Cover with damp cloth until ready to work with
- This dough does not need a first rising
- Stir together:
- Cranberry sauce
- Oregano
- Spread this on the dough surface, leaving a 2 inch border at the short ends and a 3 inch on the long ends
- Sprinkle the mashed potato over this
- Preheat oven to 400*F
- Combine:
- Turkey
- Stuffing
- Cheese
- Parsley
- Garlic
- Season to taste with salt and pepper
- Spread this evenly over the potato layer
- To make the braid:
- Cut diagonal strips about one inch wide and three inches long on the long sides
- Criss-cross these strips over the filling to achieve the braided look
- Brush the dough with canola or olive oil
- Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving
