Brownie Balls Recipe

Brownie Balls Recipe
So simple this can hardly be considered a recipe - it's inspired by my trip to Niagara Falls where Andrew (my fiance) bought a bag of them from Sugar Mountain and loved them.

Ingredients
  • 22.5 oz box (family size) Betty Crocker Supreme Brownie Mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp shortening

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F, grease the bottom of a 9" square pan.
  2. Combie brownie mix, water, melted butter and eggs by hand until blended (about 50-60 strokes).
  3. Pour into pan, spreading evenly.
  4. Bake 35 minutes.
  5. While still warm, shape into "pebble sized" balls and place on a wax-paper lined tray.
  6. Freeze completely.
  7. Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips and shortening together over low heat.
  8. When brownie balls are frozen, drop one by one into chocolate mixture and coat.
  9. Allow to harden on the lined tray.
  10. These are great frozen or room temperature... try them stirred into ice cream!

Another great one Sarah...

Wow this could be addictive.

Kid Friendly!! and I'm the biggest kid!! Thank-you, easy and rich.

Sound Great Sarah, got my 5'ers!! :)

Is there something else we can use to replace shortening?

Butter would work, or margarine... the thing with shortening is that it lets the chocolate harden at room temp without having to store them in the fridge.

at Christmas time Mr. Food made these only slightly larger and rolled them in crushed candy canes! He put them in little sleighs.
