Granita Di Caffe

- 1 cup water shopping list
- ¾ cup sugar shopping list
- 3 Tbls instant express coffee powder (or your favorite blend) shopping list
- 2 cups water shopping list
- 1 cup chilled whipping cream shopping list
- 2 Tbls sugar shopping list
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Heat 1 cup water and ¾ cup sugar to boiling in 2 quart saucepan; reduce heat.
- Simmer uncovered 5 minutes; remove from heat.
- Sprinkle in coffee powder gradually, stirring until dissolved.
- Stir in 2 cups water.
- Pour into ice cube tray.
- Freeze until mushy in center, 1 ½ - 2 hours.
- Stir mixture; freeze 1 hour, stirring after 30 minutes. Stir again before serving. (Mixture should be broken into tiny ice crystals but should not be solid.)
- Beat whipping cream, 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon in chilled bowl until soft peaks form.
- Alternate layers of whipped cream and Coffee Ice in chilled sherbet dishes or stemmed dessert dishes, beginning and ending with whipped cream.
