Steak And Mushroom Sauce Recipe
A great sauce to serve with pan fried steaks. Add some char grilled asparagus and spring onions as a side. Add some baked potatoes with sour cream and chopped chives, voila, a banquet

Ingredients
  • STEAK
  • 4 of your choice (best cut is undercut)
  • 3 oz butter
  • SAUCE
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 tspn worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tblspns tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup cream

Directions
  1. STEAKS
  2. Cook steaks in butter to your liking (medium rare is great), reserve butter
  3. Remove to rest in a warm oven (150°C) while preparing sauce
  4. SAUCE
  5. Add sliced mushrooms to reserved butter
  6. Saute for 2 minutes
  7. Add wine, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and tomato paste
  8. Bring to boil and boil uncovered for 3 minutes
  9. Add cream
  10. Stir until combined
  11. Simmer gently for 2 minutes
  12. TO SERVE
  13. Remove steaks from oven and place onto a warm dinner plate
  14. Spoon the mushroom sauce over the steaks
  15. SIDES
  16. Char grilled asparagus and spring onions with shaved parmesan
  17. Baked potatoes with sour cream/natural yoghurt and snipped chives/garlic chives
  18. The rest of the bottle of red!
