Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 (20-ounce) can pie-sliced apples, undrained
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream

Directions
  1. Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon rind, and water; blend well.
  2. Stir in apple slices; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  3. Serve hot over ice cream.
  4. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
