RUSTIC, POOR MANS ,WHATEVER IS LEFTOVER, QUICK, DELICIOUS DINNER. MY HUSBAND GREW UP ON A FARM IN ITALY, AND HIS MOTHER GAVE ME THIS RECIPE. IT'S A HEARTY DINNER

Ingredients
  • 1/2 TO 1 PD
  • PANCETTA / BACON
  • GARLIC
  • 1 MED ONION
  • EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
  • HOT RED PEPPER SEEDS..TO TASTE
  • SALT
  • ITALIAN PANELLA BREAD, OR ANY STALE FRENCH/ITALIAN BREAD
  • 1-1/2 PDS BROCCOLI RAUBE

Directions
  1. START BY CLEANING..PREP BROCCOLI RAUBE
  2. BOIL/STEAM IT
  3. PEEL ONION AND GARLIC
  4. CUT BACON INTO SMALL PIECES AND FRY, CUT AND ADD ONION AND GARLIC WHEN BACON IS 1/2 COOKED
  5. ADD PEPPER SEEDS TO BACON MIXTURE TO TASTE, AS YOU LIKE THE HEAT TO BE
  6. ADD 1/2 CUP OLIVE OIL TO BACON MIX AND ADD 3 CUPS WATER
  7. ADD SALT TO TASTE
  8. LET THE MIXTURE COME TO A BOIL
  9. THEN PUT ON A LOW SIMMER
  10. BREAK UP BREAD TO SMALL PIECES
  11. DRAIN OUT BROCCOLI RAUBE
  12. ADD BROCCOLI RAUBE TO BREAD
  13. ADD BACON "SAUCE" MIXTURE TO BREAD AND BROCCOLI RABE...MIX, AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO TO ABSORB ALL THE FLIUDS
  14. SERVE
  15. **YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE SPINACH
  16. YOUR HOUSE WILL SMELL INCREDIBLE !!!
  17. YOU WILL REALLY ENJOY THIS ON A COLD RAINY DAY
  18. SIMPLE AND FILLING
  19. NOT FOR DIETERS
