How to make it

  • Combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, salt, pepper and allspice.
  • Drain pineapple, save the juice.
  • Shape 12 meat balls, using two pineapple chunks in the center of each meat ball. Deep fry the meat balls in hot 360 degrees oil until browned. Drain on absorbent paper.
  • Sauté cabbage and green pepper in 1 tbsp cooking oil. Stir in beef cube or broth dissolved in boiling water.
  • Add remaining pineapple chuncks, pineapple juice, ginger, white pepper, sugar and soy sauce.
  • Stir in cornstarch mixed with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened.
  • Add meat balls and simmer about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve immediately with a side of basmati rice or rice of your choice.

    Sounds good. I like the juxtaposition of the cabbage and sweet. I'll break out the mai tai mix and the hula skirts and make this some time.
