Ingredients

How to make it

  • heat oven to 225 C
  • TRIC: clean the onions and put all peelings in a pan with the water
  • on low heat cook 20 min
  • Put through a strainer and keep the beautiful brown onion "broth"
  • Melt butter in a frying pan
  • Slice the onions
  • Saute onion slices in the butter ca 30 min on low heat in closed pan till soft and done
  • Add a pinch of salt after 25 min
  • Add whine and cook on high till alcohol is gone
  • Add onion broth rtilltill onion slices covered + 1 cm
  • Add cubes
  • Cook 20 min on low closed pan
  • Put shredded cheese on bread slices and cook in the oven 5-10 min till cheese bubbles
  • Put bread slices in 4 soup bowls and fill up with onion soup
