How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8 inch skillet.
  • In a large bowl, beat together sugar, salt, butter and vanilla until creamy. Stir in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and cornmeal. Stir flour mixture into egg mixture alternately with the milk. Beat well until blended.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.

    Alison, I missed this somehow - but glad I found it! This sounds just awesome to me! Growing up in Tx, I was raised with cornbread, but didn't care for it much, until I tasted the sweet cornbread. Got hooked on it! Will definitely make this one! Also might try the corndog thing, as Jett suggested...my hubby has never had a corndog!

    Hmmmm, not sure about the corndogs but I don't see why not. Try it! The cornbread is so delicious. I make my own Lasagna and then make the cornbread with it. So yummy!!!!
