Chocolate Chip Bar Cookies Recipe

How to make it

  • Combine shortening, sugars, vanilla, water and eggs.
  • Beat until creamy.
  • Add flour, baking soda and salt and stir till well belended.
  • Add chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Bake on cookie sheet 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1, 375 for 20-25 minutes or till lightly browned. Makes about 36.

    If you use butter and melt it, or at least soften it considerably, you get blonde brownies, even chewier.
