How to make it

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Grease 9x9x2 inch square baking pan
  • Stir together, flour, baking powder & salt - set aside
  • In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, vanilla & almond extract on medium speed until well combined
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
  • Gradually add flour mixture, beating on low, just until combined
  • Pour batter into prepared pan
  • Top with drained cherries
  • Sprinkle with almond-crumb topping
  • Sprinkle with sliced almonds
  • Bake 40 - 45 mins or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  • Serve warm or completely cool in pan on wore rack
