How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a small bowl mix well flour and the 4 tablespoons brown sugar with fingers.
  • Work in 1 cup margarine until dough begins to hold together.
  • Press onto bottom of 13x9" pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven 12-15 minutes or until just firm.
  • In a medium bowl, lightly beat 1 cup brown sugar and the eggs.
  • Add corn syrup, pecans, melted butter, vanilla and salt; mix well.
  • Pour over crust.
  • Bake 25 minutes or just until edges are lightly brown.
  • Cool in pan on wire rack.
  • Cut in 3x1" bars.
  • Makes 54 bars.
  • Note:
  • For an attractive way to serve the bars, cut foil squares and place each bar point to point and bring up sides, then place on serving tray (they are a little sticky)
