From chefelaine 15 years agoIngredients
- 4 sheets black felt (or whichever color you prefer) shopping list
- ! yard of white cotton broadcloth shopping list
- 2 dowels, 1/4 inch roundness, for arms -- about 7 inches long shopping list
- 1 styrofoam ball, 6 inches in diameter shopping list
- a small bit of dowel to attach head shopping list
- 2 longer narrow dowels for legs shopping list
- wooden base to attach head, arms and legs (about 5" by 5" shopping list
- material scraps for adding 'socks' shopping list
- two shoe laces, white, or whatever color you prefer shopping list
- 1 length of chain shopping list
- 1 glue gun and glue sticks shopping list
- cotton batting shopping list
How to make it
- The head and body:
- Make the wooden base on which to attach the head, arms, and legs
- To attach the head, drill a hole just big enough to accomodate the little dowel piece into the head.
- Drill a hole, same size into the wooden base, and glue into position with the glue gun
- ====================================
- The arms:
- Drill a hole for the arms into the wooden base, attach, and glue into position
- Shape 'arms' with batting
- ====================================
- The legs:
- Same instructions as for arms; just be sure the doll can STAND when finished, so balancing the legs is necessary.
- ====================================
- The hands:
- Place the length of chain on the end of each hand, tacking the end of the chain onto the dowel.
- Cover with batting
- Cover batting with any scrap material you desire.
- ====================================
- The socks:
- Any piece of scrap material is fine. Simply wrap a chunk around the base of the legs, and glue to stay. stuff with batting
- ====================================
- The shoes:
- Wrap a little of the white cotton broadcloth around the 'foot' area
- Make an L-shaped piece of material for the 'shoe base' and glue into position to give the appearance of a shoe
- poke holes into the 'laces' area, and tie as you would regular laces.
- ====================================
- The ghost sheeting:
- Take the white cotton broadcloth, and loosely attach to the top of the doll head, then glue into position. There is no set dimension for this, as the material should flow to appear more ghost-like!
- ====================================
- The hat:
- Cut 2 layers of the black felt (or whatever color YOU choose!) into a 9 inch circle.
- Sew together, and invert
- Reserve...
- Cut a a triangular shape, then glue to form the peaked part of the hat.
- Sew the rim of the hat to the peaked part.
- Take another color of any scrap material to use for the hat trim.
- Glue the hat trim into place, and glue the hat onto the head of the ghost.
- ====================================
- The face and body trim:
- Cut letters spelling "BOO" out of any scrap material, bright enough to vividly contrast the white sheeting
- Make another shape, such as a witch, pumpkin, whatever you desire, out of another color of any scrap material, and glue wherever you want to place them
- Apply three little dots to the head area to represent eyes and nose.
- ====================================
- *****For added effect at nigh, place a small battery operated white light underneath the 'ghost clothing' !!
- BOOOOOOOOOOOO! Happy Halloween! :+D
