Perfect Pumpkin Dream Dessert

Pumpkin lovers! A friend gave this recipe to me today. She says it is fabulous. It was served to her, and she begged for the recipe. Here it is!
Ingredients
- 29 ozs. of pumpkin (either 1 big can or 2 smaller cans) shopping list
- 1 large can of evaporated milk shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups of sugar shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of ginger shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg shopping list
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon shopping list
- OR 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice, in place of ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon shopping list
- 1 box Duncan Hines butter cake mix shopping list
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans shopping list
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, melted shopping list
- sweetened whipped cream for topping shopping list
How to make it
- In large bowl, mix pumpkin, milk, sugar, eggs and spices until blended well
- Pour into a greased 9 X 13 dish or pan
- Sprinkle the box of dry yellow cake mix on top of batter
- Sprinkle the pecans over top
- Pour the melted butter over pecans
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, do not overbake.
- Best served warm with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream
- Place leftovers in refrigerator (if there are any)

Love the short cut with the boxed yellow cake mix as we don't always have time to scratch bake.
