How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and mix well. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Drain raisins and add 2 tbsp flour. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Mix raisins, dates, cherries and nuts together and stir into cookie mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto cookie sheets. Bake 13-15 minutes. Remove to racks to cool.

    I have this recipe from my grandmother, she made the "adult" version. Instead of soaking the raisins in water, soak them in rum for 3 days before making the batter. After the batter is made refrigerate it for 2 days before baking (let's the "good stuff" soak into the batter.

    this sounds so good!i want to try them with craisins (cranberry/raisin hybrid) instead of straight raisins.
