Ingredients

1 Pound Mushrooms

Nice Vegetable Oil

1/2 Cup Flour

1/3 Champagne

1 Egg(Farm Fresh)

1 teaspoon Baking Powder

1/2 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Trim stem of mushrooms about 1/4" from cap.

Heat oil to 360 degrees.

Beat remaining ingredients with wire whisk until smooth.

Dip mushrooms into batter,allow excess batter to drip back into the bowl.

Fry mushrooms a few at a time until golden brown,turning once,about 3 minutes at a time.

Drain on paper towels that have been placed on brown paper bag.

The Ugly~~~~~~Will,let's face it,although wonderful in all it's components,mushrooms will never win a Beauty Contest---and---Yes ,there are some,however, that will tort,OH! CONTRA'!!

I too could "hear" the music from the movie as I read your recipe. My husband and I are big Clint Eastwood fans and must have seen this particular film a half a dozen times as well as Dirty Harry. One of the first things my husband and I purchased when we first got married (a long, long time ago) was a little deep fryer. A popular item back then. I kid you not, every weekend I fried mushrooms in batter! I was crazy about them. Any ways, good job on your recipe and entertaining way of putting it!
