How to make it

  • Brown the ground beef with 1 tsp. salt
  • Drain ground beef and add potatoes, carrots, and onion - cook until the potatoes and carrots begin to soften.
  • Add mushroom soup, garlic powder, fine herbs and worchestershire sauce and heat through.
  • Chill filling in fridge.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Mix flour and 1 tsp salt.
  • Cut in shortening.
  • Add water all at once and mix well, forming into ball.
  • Divide dough into 8 equal portions and place in fridge to chill.
  • Roll each ball of dough out onto lightly floured surface into a circle about the size of a salad plate.
  • Place one 8th of the filling onto one side of the dough circle. Fold the other side of the dough over the filling and pinch the edges together to close.
  • Place the pies onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • Beat the two eggs with the milk and pinch of salt to make egg wash.
  • Cut 3 slits into the top of each pie, to vent.
  • Brush each pie with egg wash.
  • Cook for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
