Christmas Tree Preservation Solution Recipe
This solution was given to me by a firefighter friend. It aids in keeping the tree fresher longer.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups light corn syrup
  • 2 ounces chlorine bleach
  • 2 pinches epsom salts
  • 1 teaspoon borax

Directions
  1. Fill a 2 gallon bucket with water to within a few inches of the top.
  2. Add the above ingredients.
  3. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Cut 1" from the bottom of the tree trunk.
  5. Immediately stand the cut tree in the bucket.
  6. Store the tree in a protected area outside.
  7. When the tree is brought indoors, retain the solution.
  8. Fill the well of the tree stand with the solution.
  9. Check the well daily to make sure it is filled with solution.

If I wasn't so jinxed on xmas trees I would try this. But as it is... I always end up with a tree doing back flips in my living room. whether it be real or fake. so I think I will pass this tid bit on to my friends who just have to have real trees every year. Thank you for posting. K8
