How to make it

  • Heat oil & butter in skillet
  • Add garlic & onion, cook, stirring until onion is soft
  • Stir in mushrooms & cook for about 5 mins until mushrooms are soft
  • Add flour & stir over heat for about 1 min
  • Gradually add water & stir over heat until mixture boils & thickens
  • Remove from heat & cool
  • Stir chives into cooled mixture

  • Roll pastry on lightly floured surface to 25cmx35cm (10x14 inch) rectangle. Cut in half lengthwise to form 2 - 10x7 inch rectangles
  • Spread 1/2 the filling over 1 rectangle, leaving a border down both long sides
  • Fold both sides over the filling to meet in the middle
  • Brush all down the middle with some of the beaten egg
  • Fold in 1/2 lengthwise & press together lightly
  • Repeat with 2nd rectangle & remaining mixture
  • Cover & refrigerate for 30 mins
  • Cut rolls into 1 cm (1/2 inch) slices & place on lightly greased baking sheets
  • Bake in 375 degree oven for about 12 mins or until lightly browned
  • Serve hot
