How to make it

  • Cook orzo according to package directions. Strain and rinse with warm water.
  • Meanwhile, peal and chop apple into even, bite sized cubes if using.
  • Melt butter in a heavy skillet over medium high heat and add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to taste. Fry apples 15-20 minutes or until they reach desired doneness (I find they work better if still slightly crisp in the center).
  • Gently toss apples, cranberries, and nuts with cooked orzo.
  • Combine cinnamon, herbs d provence, condensed sweetened milk, and vanilla extract. Pour over pasta mixture and toss lightly to coat.
  • Enjoy warm or room temperature.
