Caramelized Pear Tart

- 5 bosc pears, firm shopping list
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- pie crust, store-bought or homemade shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Peel, core and halve the pears.
- Melt butter in 8 or 9" cast iron skillet.
- Arrange pears on top of butter in skillet, cut-side up, wide end at rim.
- Sprinkle pears with cinnamon.
- Cook without stirring over medium heat until sugar caramelizes.
- Cool completely in skillet.
- Roll pie crust into an 11" round.
- Arrange crust over pears making sure to tuck edges around fruit well.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Remove from oven.
- IMMEDIATELY turn onto serving plate.
- Garnish with leftover pears.
- Serve with whipped cream dollops and/or ice cream.
