Ingredients

2 slices white bread

1 medium tomato, thickly sliced

1 slice white American cheese

2 teaspoons butter or margarine

1 lettuce leaf (optional)

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Toast the bread slices to desired darkness.

When bread is toasted, spread lightly with the butter or margarine.

Place a slice of tomato on the buttered side of one slice of bread.

Top with the slice of cheese.

Season to taste with the salt and pepper.

Place lettuce on top, if desired.

Top with remaining slice of white bread.
