Scalloped Asparagus

SCALLOPED ASPARAGUS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Peyton Estate in Waxahachie, Texas in 1984.
Ingredients
- 1 can asparagus shopping list
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup melted butter shopping list
- 1 tablespoon flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1 tablespoon butter shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
How to make it
- Make white sauce of butter, flour and milk.
- Pour off liquid from can and add asparagus to white sauce.
- Cover bottom of baking dish with creamed asparagus.
- Combine crumbs and butter then layer over asparagus.
- Alternate layers of asparagus and crumbs then place grated cheese on top.
- Bake until cheese melts and browns slightly.
