I had something similar to this at a restaurant and I had to know how to make it. They wouldn't share so I played around with this recipe until it was just right. Hope you like it (=

Ingredients
  • Garlic-Ginger Dipping Sauce:
  • 8 garlic cloves
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger root, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Flank Steak:
  • 3 lbs flank steak
  • 2/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp ginger root, grated
  • 2 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp dark sesame oil

Directions
  1. Garlic-Ginger Dipping Sauce:
  2. Finely chop garlic and put into the food processor. Add salt, pepper and eggs, one at a time. Pulse until combined. Take the feeder cap off of the food processor and on low speed slowly add the olive oil in a steady stream, until sauce thickens. Add lemon juice give a couple of quick pulses to combine. Then add ginger, soy sauce, and sugar until smooth.
  3. Flank Steak:
  4. Combine all ingredients, except for steak, in a big Ziploc bag, or glass bowl, and mix together. Put the steak in the marinade and cover. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Remove steak from marinade, set the marinade aside. BBQ or grill the steak (about 8-10 minutes each side, depending on how well you like it), basting frequently with reserved marinade. Let steak rest for 5-10 minutes and cut into strips. Serve with dipping sauce.
