Ingredients

How to make it

  • Beat butter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla together.
  • Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time.
  • Press through a cookie press onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Sprinkle with colored sugar, if desired.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes or until cookies are almost firm but not brown.
  • Let cool on sheets for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  • Makes 5 dozen.
  • NOTES: I like to make tree shapes, sprinkle with green sugar and multicolored round sprinkles to make them look like decorated Christmas trees. You can also add food color to the dough before baking to make colored cookies.

Oh, this is also one of my favorite, and, how strange, we call it the same . This buttery cookie is also in my childhood memories - it must be a recipe popular all over Europe. Thank you for bringing it back - I actually remember a very specific bakery back home that used to make these... Great times!

Have you noticed how many of us are waxing nostalgic with our recipes during this season,dr? We all seem to be harking back to passed parents and grands. My five to you, my friend.
