Apple Butter

- 3 pounds apples, peeled, cored and sliced (Granny Smith for me) shopping list
- 1 cup unfiltered apple cider shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves shopping list
- 3 pint-size Mason jars with lids shopping list
How to make it
- Cook prepared apples in cider until tender.
- Add sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
- Simmer until desired consistency is attained.
- Puree mixture in food processor OR blender.
- Return mixture to pot.
- Boil until very hot.
- Sterilize the jars in boiling water bath.
- Pour hot apple butter into hot jars.
- Place jars in a water bath for 10 minutes.
- Remove jars very CAREFULLY.
- Tighten lids .
- Invert jars to seal.
- Cool comletely.
- Slather!
