Although I'm unable to do any "jarring" of foods any more, when I could this was one of my favorites to make and stock. It makes three pints of apple butter, ergo the 3 in the "serving" space.

Ingredients
  • 3 pounds apples, peeled, cored and sliced (Granny Smith for me)
  • 1 cup unfiltered apple cider
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 pint-size Mason jars with lids

Directions
  1. Cook prepared apples in cider until tender.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
  3. Simmer until desired consistency is attained.
  4. Puree mixture in food processor OR blender.
  5. Return mixture to pot.
  6. Boil until very hot.
  7. Sterilize the jars in boiling water bath.
  8. Pour hot apple butter into hot jars.
  9. Place jars in a water bath for 10 minutes.
  10. Remove jars very CAREFULLY.
  11. Tighten lids .
  12. Invert jars to seal.
  13. Cool comletely.
  14. Slather!
