Mahogany Short Ribs Recipe
MAHOGANY SHORT RIBS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Printey Estate in Forney, Texas in 2001.

Ingredients
  • 3 pounds short ribs cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 cup prune juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns

Directions
  1. Cover meat in a mixture of teriyaki sauce and prune juice then refrigerate covered overnight.
  2. Remove ribs from marinade then bring marinade to boil in large pot with water and peppercorns.
  3. Lower heat then add meat and cover then simmer 2 hours or until meat is very tender.
  4. Remove ribs to a platter then reduce sauce for 5 minutes or until syrupy over medium high heat.
  5. Pour it over short ribs and serve.

Hmmn ... just unusual enough to arouse curiosity. I'll print it for a good winter time substitution of the grilling season. Ha
