How to make it

  • Note: For sour milk, use 3/4 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice and add enough milk to make 1/4 cup. Let it stand for 5 minutes before you use it.
  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease and flour 8 inch square baking pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar together in a large bowl, scraping often, at medium speed of your electric mixer until mixture is creamy.
  • Add sour milk, the melted chocolate, egg and vanilla.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Turn mixer to low speed.
  • Add dry ingredients and beat until well mixed but do not overbeat.
  • Add boiling water and continue beating until smooth.
  • Pour into pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
  • If you want, serve with a dollop of whipped cream or dusting of powdered sugar.

    I know this has been here awhile. I hope someone can answer my question. Can sour cream or buttermilk be used in place of the sour milk?
