How to make it

  • Melt butter in medium sauce pan or large skillet. Mix in flour until smooth. Add seasonings. Cook stirring constantly for several minutes until sauce browns just slightly. Add milk a little at a time stirring to combine completely. When you first start adding milk it will look like mashed potatoes and that’s okay! Use this sauce as is for casseroles, or check out the recipes for Green Bean Casserole, Macaroni and Cheese, and Tuna Noodle.

    No worries sparow64. Cube, stick, 1/2 cup of butter, same dif. I checked out some of your recipes you should have NO trouble making white sauce. The only bad thing is once you make it you'll never want to go back to canned. ;o)

    This looks really good, and I'm soooo bad to use the canned soup...be great to make my own...but if I could ask a dumb question: how much is a cube of butter? (I know I'm gonna feel really stupid when I find out! LOL).
