Whiskey Chili

- 1 pound ground beef shopping list
- 1/2 pound ground pork shopping list
- 1 medium red onion, diced shopping list
- 1 small red bell pepper, diced shopping list
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced shopping list
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans petite diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste shopping list
- 4 tablespoons chili powder shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cumin shopping list
- 1 tablespoon paprika shopping list
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 4 slices bacon shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder shopping list
- 1/4 cup whiskey shopping list
- salt and pepper, to taste shopping list
- 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated shopping list
- 1 teaspoon fresh cilantro, chopped shopping list
How to make it
- In a large skillet, brown beef, pork, onion and peppers until cooked thoroughly and vegetables are soft. Transfer to large stockpot and add tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and water. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 1 hour; stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook bacon until crispy; crumble bacon and set aside for garnish.
- After one hour, stir cocoa, whiskey, salt and pepper to taste into chili. Cover and simmer for 10 additional minutes.
- To serve, spoon into bowls and garnish with Cheddar cheese, bacon and cilantro.

Hi Kimmer hon - this recipe sounds wonderful! I love the flavors here and the cocoa powder and whiskey adds are wonderful. I have been craving a good chili and this sounds like the one to make. Great share - thanks!

This sounds great. I am kind of a chilehead and love trying different kinds. Its "Chile" wheather here in the Midweat and I wouldn't mind giving this recipe a try this weekend.... Thanks Jim
