Mock Salisbury Steak
From mike_kennedy 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef shopping list
- 4 cans brown gravy (make you own if you want, but canned is fine) shopping list
- 1 red onion shopping list
- rice shopping list
- salt shopping list
- pepper shopping list
- oil shopping list
How to make it
- form small patties out of the ground beef (about 1.5 inches in diameter, .5 inch thick. just grab the meat and form it, don't knead it or anything)
- salt and pepper each side pretty good
- half an onion, then cut across grain .25 inch wide pieces
- heat a deep iron skillet till hot, place burgers in skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side (don't cook all the way through)
- remove when done and wrap in aluminum foil
- throw onions in skillet, drizzle some oil over them along with some salt and pepper. cook till translucent, this will also help deglaze skillet.
- after onions are done, pour in gravy and a little bit of water (maybe a can), then add little burgers and the juice that's with them. mix well, cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.
- serve over rice with some green peas, mashed potatoes, and corn with some yeast rolls. very tasty!
